So we bought a house...

Yep, you read right. We bought a house!! Crazy town. It's been quite the whirlwind. Since matching to UW on March 20th, we've made the I5 drive from Portland to Seattle and back three times, decided we were gonna look to buy a place, found a house, put an offer in, got our offer accepted, and gotten the house inspected. Oh and did I mention I also worked a night shift one of those nights in between trips. Sometimes I have to take a moment to breathe. Everything is happening so fast.

The Seattle housing market is insane. People are waiving inspection contingencies and finding themselves in biding wars over houses. Who knew? Fortunately for us, we were able to find a perfect place in West Seattle and win the bid. God definitely orchestrated all the pieces to fit perfectly and everything so timely. We have incredibly generous and supportive family to even allow us to be able to talk about buying a home. So much to be grateful for.

I never thought I'd even be thinking about buying let alone actually being under contract in purchasing a house at this point in life. With Brandon starting residency in June and life being so busy and unpredictable, I didn't think it'd be the time to settle down in a house of our own but I'm not complaining. It feels like the right timing and we are excited to become homeowners. It's quite the daunting task though...so much to know about being a homeowner. There's so much that goes into this whole house buying process. A little overwhelming. So glad his is right up Brandon's alley. He's so good at this stuff and crunching numbers and figuring out all these little details. I don't feel very helpful in that department. I contribute with design and decorating the house...that's more my cup of tea!

Here's a little sneak peak of our soon to be home. It's a remodeled 1950s bungalow. How charming is it!?

Match Day

Well, the day finally came. The day that we would find out where we would be for the next 3+ years for Brandon's residency.

We matched to U of Washington. It was out 1st choice. We are really excited to be heading back to Seattle come June!

Here's to the next chapter of our lives...residency in Seattle!

Staycations are where it's at, people.

Brandon is off for three weeks and I got that same chunk off of work. It worked out great. It's been so fun having Brandon home and spending time together as a family. I know these days will be few and far between starting in June/ July when Brandon starts residency, so I am savoring every moment we have together.

It's been nice to stay home this time around. typically when we've had time off  previously, we've travelled. It's fun to travel, but let's be real...it's exhausting (especially with a little one). We've spent a lot of the days relaxin at home, getting chores done that usually get pushed to the back burner, and going for walks to the park.

I've been trying to take advantage of Brandon being home to watch Kellan so that I can start purging for the (most likely) move. Where has all this stuff come from? It's amazing how much one can collect. I'm trying to simplify and donate a lot of items we don't use often/don't need. I hate clutter. It feels good to be catching up on some much needed spring cleaning.

One week til Match day. By this time next week, we will know where we will be going. Ahh!!

Spring is in the air

Wow. This weather we have been having has been ridiculous. Mid 60s in late Feb/early March? One of the most mild winters I've experienced in the pnw. I'm not complaining especially after watching the east coast get slammed with tons of snow and ice.

We've tried to take advantage of this beautiful weather by taking day trips to the coast, playing at the park and taking lots of neighborhood walks. This past weekend we went up to Bellevue to visit family. It was a gorgeous weekend!

Can't believe that we can say match is next week! Where will we land for residency? Looking forward to finding out so we can start planning.

Here's to hoping spring weather will continue to stay a little while!

Kellan turns ONE

Hard to believe that my (not so) little guy turned one on February 20th. Where has this year gone?

We had a little birthday celebration with family and friends at our favorite local coffee shop (JoLa cafe) in our neighborhood. I had a fun time crafting and planning the party, after all it's more for the parents than the kid at this age :)

After lots of Pinterest inspiration, I can up with some decor. I really don't like the over stimulating children's theme party decor. So I went with something more modern and fun. I had fun making Kellan's smash cake too. Even though he wasn't a huge fan of the smashing or eating part, it was still fun to watch him attempt to 'smash it' (more like 'pat it').

Overall it was a great success and we feel so blessed to have so many family and friends that surround us and have helped us with Kellan. As they say, it takes a village. I would agree. Between Brandon's crazy schedule,  my working nights and Kellan being the busy boy he is, it has been tough and we couldn't have done it without the love and support from our family and friends.

We are so in love with our boy. It's such a privilege and blessing to be entrusted with such a gift. It's a daunting task to raise a little boy, but oh so rewarding. He is so full of life and wonder. He is an observer and I love watching him take in the world around him.

Happy first birthday, sweet boy. Thanks for making me a mommy.
