2014 recap

Okay, here we go.

Figured I would try this blogging thing out again. 2015. A new year. An exciting year to come. Lots of changes down the pipeline. All of which I'm excited to share...

But first, 2014. A recap is in order...

2014 -- This was, BY FAR, one of the best years yet!!

Our family grew from two to three. I had a sweet & handsome little boy in February.
Kellan Beckett. Born Feb. 20, 2014. Healthy and strong. Wide eyed and inquisitive. 7 lbs 2 ounces. 19.5 inches long. The cutest little guy you've ever seen...

He has been such a joy to watch him grow these last 11 months. He is so full of life and such a happy guy. He always has a big smile on his face and rarely is fussy. I couldn't have imagined the amount of joy he would bring in our lives. God has truly blessed us with this little bundle of love.

Brandon started his 3rd year of medical school at OHSU. He took his Step One boards the summer between 2nd and 3rd year. (We actually found out we were having a baby Father's day of 2013 just a few days before he took his Step One boards). 3rd year felt like a bit of a blur... so many rotations, long hours, and time away (2 rotations in rural Oregon). He figured out what kind of doctor he wanted to be! He's decided to do Internal Medicine and then most likely do a fellowship in Cards or GI after residency. 3rd year was by far the hardest year but we made it through and it only made us stronger and appreciate each other more. So proud of all the hard work he has put into school. He's gonna make one heck of a doctor! 4th year will be a cake walk...atleast so we hear :) I'll keep you posted on that.

Still at the same job. Working as a nurse in the Emergency Department at OHSU. It's fun. It's challenging. It makes me cry sometimes. It makes me laugh more of the time. My co-workers are amazing and keep me grounded. We are a team and it's so cool to work so closely with everyone on the team. I've learned so much. I work in a lot of various roles in the department which keeps things interesting. I work as charge nurse which comes with great responsibility but has taught me so much about being a leader. I love what I do. I love the people we get to serve. Albeit it's one of the hardest jobs I've ever had to do, I find so much reward in it. Helping others in their scariest and sickest times. Such a cool opportunity to show people Jesus and his love.

My sister, Anna, had a baby in June 2014. Rowan Emmett. He is adorable and so lovable. I LOVE being an aunt. It's been fun having babies around the same time. It's great to have a buddy to walk through this crazy journey called "mommyhood"! He is 4 months younger than Kellan. They are already the best of buds. Can't wait until they get older and can actually play together!

I gained another brother-in-love (law). My sister-in-love, Michelle, got married to Will (or William Gale as I like to call him) in June 2014. They are two peas in a pod. They compliment each other so well. It's been fun having our family grow this past year.

My parents still live in Singapore and continue to love it there. My mom just got her decade long project (a book) published this year. Peace with God. It's a bible study put out by Precept Ministries. You should check it out. My dad continues to teach art at a local school in Singapore.

Our two cuddly ragdolls. I'm sure they've felt the affects of having a new "sibling" added. They are sweet though. Kellan has love chasing them around the house and has attempted several times to pull their fur out to their dismay. He's learning...oh well. No scratches yet! He loves the cats. He points at them when he sees them. He knows "cat" when he hears it and starts looking around for them. Maybe that will be his first word? I'll keep you posted.

Well that's my 2014 recap. There's a ton more that happened, but that's all there is time for now. My goal is at least one post per month and maybe I'll work up from there.

Here's to 2015! More to come on that...stay tuned.
